Trapped

It got cold in the Yukon. Yesterday temperature dropped to 40 below 0 and it was just to cold to drive to work. So I was trapped at home and I liked it! I stitched and stitched, and worked on my first assignment (I'm back to school again working for that accounting designation), cooked and baked. It was an awesome day! Today is even colder, so I'm trapped again and have tons on the agenda for the day.

Yesterday I worked on my Project 1 form Crazy January Challenge (CJC) - Shiver me Timbers, here is the progress:

It is a lovely project to work on and made me fell in love with pirates. I have in my stash pirate Santa and he will be my Project 15 for the CJC!

Let's talk about other projects for the challenge:

Project 10 - Birds of a feather

now
and, when done

Project 11 - Heart of the Valley. Not a new start but it deserves to be finished.

 now

when done
Project 12 - Provence. Again, not a new start but I would love to finish this year

now

when done

Project 13 - Ships and shells from HAED

now

when done

Project 14 - Temple of Bastet. Yes, I know, you think I'm crazy but it is a Crazy January Challenge! This is another HAED design and since I only worked on protecting fabric edges and installing it on the scroll frame I do not have much to show you. What I can do, is to show you how the finish project will look like

Now I'm set with my stitching plan for 2011 and many more years to come.

Crazy January Challenge - Project 9

A while ago I was drooling over Egyptian Empire, project stitched by Katrien from Little Stitches. Katrien finished her project and touched by my deep love to her work send me the chart. It took me a while to match the floss but here they are, my first stitches in Project 9 - Egyptian Empire:

I hope, when I'm done, my Egyptian Empire will look as good as hers ...

Crazy January Challenge continues...

Yesterday was my ex's birthday and I have a tradition of buying gifts and pampering myself on that day. (Life is good!!!) It wasn't a good relationship and I'm glad it ended. But, let's talk about my shopping. A while ago a fell in love with Guardian Angel by L.A. Williams (art work), design by Michelle from Heaven and Earth Designs.

And yesterday I made an executive decision and bought all the floss and fabric to go with this chart. I know I'm crazy but it's crazy challenge so this will be my Project 5.  It will take a while for goodies to arrive, in the mean time I can work on other projects.

Project 6 - Lighthouse Island. It's a pretty big biscornu (almost pillow size!)

When done it will look like this:

Project 7 - ornament "Love"

When done it suppose to look like this:

Project 8 - Pope John Paul II

I'm not very religious but this man has a very special place in my heart - he changed my world. In time of confusion, fear, hunger and anger (I'm talking about 80's, time of martial law in Poland, time of ending communist tyranny in Europe). Actually when I think about 80's there is two more leaders I'm thankful to - Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Those three changed the course of history. Going back to my Pope, this is a start:

When done he should look like this:

And, I have a little progress on Project 1!

Shiver me Timbers is coming to life!

Check tomorrow for next project!

Crazy January Challenge with a dash of wit

While preparing for Crazy January Challenge I found projects that are barely started, that are challenging, beautiful and definitely need to be finish. After all the purpose of the challenge is to use old stash...

Here they are:

Project 1 - Shiver Me Timbers from Sue Hills Design. This project I'm stitching for our dear friend  from ILCS group Rene. Rene is very ill and I know she likes the pattern.

I'm stitching it on the 32 ct Mercedes Lugana with DMC floss. When done it will look like this:

Project 2 - Egyptian Temple from Heaven and Earth Designs design by Ciro Marchetti:

This one I'm stitching on 25 ct Jobelyn over 1 thread with 1 thread of floss. It is a huge project and I'm sure it will take me years to finish. When done it will look like this:

Project 3 - Angel of the Morning from Lavender and Lace:

Another BAP! Fabric: Blue Spruce Jobelyn 32 ct, 2 over 2.  When done it will look like this:

Stay tuned for another update of my Crazy January Challenge (CJC)!

Happy New Year!!!!

May the 2011 be the best year ever!!!!!!!

Crazy January Challenge by Minna

I joined a crazy challenge - starting today and every day for 15 days I will start a new project. The idea behind the challenge is to work on existing stash.  It looks like I will be doing a lot of more stitching this year!
Here is my list:
  1. Temple of Bastet
  2. Rocky Mountain Christmas
  3. Egyptian Empire
  4. Garden Geese
  5. Northern Lights
  6. The Globetrotter Banner
  7. Celestial
  8. Wish ornament
  9. Peaceful Evening stocking
  10. Crane paradise
  11. Egyptian Sampler
  12. Asian Orchids
  13. Guardian Angel
  14. Goddess portrait Bastet
  15. Witches stitch too!
I can start them in a different order but that's the list. I'm not sure I can finish all these in 2011 - some of them are huge... and I still have a few WIPs going... Well, I'm shooting for the moon! Even if I do not make it, I will be between stars...

So long friends,
